Meet our Pigs, Piggly, Wiggly, and Harriet !

Scientific Name: Sus scrofa

 

Diet: Pigs are omnivores, which means they eat both plants and meat.

 

Fun Fact: Pigs have an excellent sense of smell and are used in Europe to detect truffles underground. Truffles are a delicacy in many food dishes.

 

Pigs have been domesticated for thousands of years and have provided many services to humans since then. Some pigs are even kept as companions like dogs and cats.

Zebus originated in South Asia and are now farmed in tropical countries due to their ability to withstand high temperatures. Wild herds still exist in small numbers in South Asia.
