Meet our Great-Horned Owl, Luna!

Scientific Name: Bubo virginianus

 

Diet: Mostly small mammals but can also eat animals such as frogs, owls, hawks, and other birds.

 

Fun Fact: Their talons are so strong it takes a force of 28 pounds to open them when they are clenched together!

What am I similar to?

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

The Barred Owl (Strix varia). The Great-Horned Owl and the Barred Owl are in the same family - Strigiformes.

STATUS: Least Concern

 

How can you help?

As with all wildlife, you can help by not littering and by recycling! Always remember to buy recycled products too!

 

Habitat: I live everywhere, from forests to plains, I'm not picky!
