The Poison Dart frog is aptly named after the poison glands found just beneath the skin. It's thought that they get their poison from the ants, termites, and beetles that they eat.

The Northern Spring Peeper (Pseudacris crucifer) are small frogs found in woodlands with temporary or permenant wetlands throughout Virginia. Like the dart frog, they feed mainly on small insects like ants and beetles, but are not poisonous.
