 These turtles are 'the' traditional pet turtle, farmed in large quantities in the southern USA for the global pet trade.

If you want one as a pet you need to make sure you get from a reputable source and never take an animal from the wild. Thoughts on how to know?

       1) Don't unless you have to

       2) Research the place where you want to get the turtle from

Diet: Omnivorous and consumes a wide variety of plant and animal matter

Fun Fact:

pond sliders can communicate with touch and vibrations. In courtship rituals, the male touches the female's head and neck with his claws.
