Scientific Name: Procyon lotor

Diet: Omnivorous and opportunistic. In some habitats plants comprise a larger percentage of a raccoon's diet than animal matter.

 

Habitat: Extremely adaptable, being found in many kinds of habitats and easily living near humans.

Status: Least concern

 

Population densities vary widely with habitat type

Fun Fact: They are nocturnal and are seldom active during the daytime.

They can get into trash cans  and eat what is in there, any cat or dog food left outside, fruits and nuts, corn, fish, frogs, insects, bird eggs, and rodents.
