Frequently Asked Questions:
1. Can Porcupines shoot their quills?
No, the porcupine has to push their quills into another animal

Porcupines are actually nocturnal, which means they are most active at night.
Ever wondered how an Indian Crested Porcupines uses their quills? Check out this video of an Indian Crested Porcupine defending itself against some hungry lions!
The Indian Crested Porcupine is similar to the Porcupine [Erithizon dorsatum dorsatum] a species which used to be found in Virginia.
A word of caution, Porcupine quills have barbs on the end which make removal extremely painful, please take pets or yourself to a trained professional in case of a mishap!
